The Notes growth system

Substack Notes Secrets

Grow your Substack subscribers with Notes — without guessing what to post.

Substack Notes Secrets teaches The Scroll-to-Subscriber Method — the exact system that took one newsletter from 11 to 9,000+ subscribers in 15 months.

Growing on Substack can feel like a game of Clue — picking combinations, watching them fail, guessing again. This course hands you the solution card: what to post, when to post it, and how to get it in front of the right people.

Every Substack mystery comes down to three cards

Suspect, Weapon, Room. Who posts, what they post, where it lands. Crack all three and the case closes.

Suspect
The Creator
that’s you
Weapon
The Note
your move
Room
The Algorithm
where it lands

Posting Notes shouldn’t feel like guessing

You’re posting Notes. Maybe every day, maybe a few times a week. You’re writing things you care about, putting real thought into them.

And the feed is quiet.

A couple of likes from the same three people. Maybe a restack if you’re lucky. The subscriber count barely moves. You check the analytics and the numbers feel random — some Notes get seen, most don’t, nothing works consistently.

Meanwhile, other creators are growing fast

Some of them are newer than you. Their Notes get hundreds of likes, dozens of comments, a steady stream of new subscribers. You read what they post and think: this isn’t better than mine. So what are they doing that you’re not?

That’s not a failure on your part. That’s a system problem — and it has a system solution.

The wrong guesses most creators make

Substack growth is a guessing game until it isn’t. Below: the combinations creators try over and over before they realise the problem isn’t their content — it’s the absence of a system.

You’re doing the work — the platform isn’t rewarding it

You’ve heard Notes is the fastest growth channel on Substack, so you show up. You post. You write something thoughtful. It gets 4 likes and zero new subscribers. Next day, same thing. You start to wonder if your content just isn’t good enough.

01False Lead

The real problem isn’t your writing

It’s that there’s no system underneath it. You’re choosing topics randomly, writing hooks that bury the good stuff, posting whenever you’re online, and following people without a strategy — so the algorithm doesn’t know who to show your content to.

When growth stalls, you have no way to diagnose why, so you keep posting the same way and hoping for different results.

02The Alibi

Why the usual advice doesn’t help

“Post consistently” is true but incomplete. “Engage in comments” is vague. “Use hooks” is obvious — but which hooks, for what kind of Note? Most of it was written by people who never tested it with real data.

03The Smoking Gun

What it’s costing you

Every week without a system burns the two things you can’t get back: time and momentum. Substack’s algorithm learns from patterns, and right now it’s learning that your content doesn’t get engagement. That pattern gets harder to reverse the longer it runs.

There is a different path — one where every Note has a job, a structure, and a reason to exist. Where growth isn’t random. It’s repeatable.

Is this course right for you?

Two profiles. One side of the table will sound exactly like you.

QUALIFIED

This is built for you if…

  • ExhibitA

    Growth doesn’t match the work

You have a Substack newsletter and you’re posting Notes — but your subscriber count isn’t growing the way the work deserves.

  • ExhibitB

    Stuck under 500 subs

You’ve been on Substack for a few months and still haven’t cracked 500 subscribers — or you were growing and growth stalled.

  • ExhibitC

    Blank-screen syndrome

You open the Notes tab and stare at the blank screen because you don’t know what to post today, or tomorrow, or next week.

  • ExhibitD

    Others are pulling ahead

You’ve noticed other creators growing faster and you can’t figure out what they’re doing differently.

  • ExhibitE

You want a system, not tips

You want a system — not random tips — that tells you what to post, when, how to write it, and how to get it in front of the right people.

DISQUALIFIED

This isn’t for you if…

  • File01

You want it done for you

You’re looking for a done-for-you service where someone writes your Notes and runs your account. This is a mini course, not a service.

  • File02

    Not willing to post daily

You won’t post at least once a day for 30 days. The system works through consistency — one Note a week won’t move the needle.

  • File03

Notes aren’t part of your plan

You’re not willing to use Substack Notes as a growth channel. This course lives or dies on Notes — if you won’t post them, the system can’t work for you.

  • File04

    Already past 5,000 subs

You already have 5,000+ subscribers and a tested Notes strategy. This course is built for early growth, not advanced optimization.

Why “post consistently” isn’t enough

Most Notes advice says some version of the same thing: post every day, use good hooks, engage in the comments, be patient. It’s not wrong — it’s just not enough. Following it alone is like being told to “just drive” with no map.

01The Pattern

Content is not a system

The real reason most creators stall has nothing to do with effort. They’re treating Notes as a content channel instead of a growth system. A system is five things at once: what you post, who sees it, how the algorithm categorises you, what happens when people click through, and what to do when growth flatlines.

Solving one without the others is why most creators feel like they’re running on a treadmill.

02The Method

What this course is

That system has a name: The Scroll-to-Subscriber Method. It runs on five parts that have to work together — what you post, who sees it, how the algorithm categorizes you, what happens when someone clicks through, and what you do when growth stalls. Most creators fix one and ignore the other four, which is why they stay on the treadmill. The Scroll-to-Subscriber Method connects all five, so a scroller turns into a subscriber instead of a like.

Substack Notes Secrets is how I teach it — the same system I built taking my own Substack from 11 subscribers to 9,000+ in 15 months.

From 11 subscribers to 9,000+ in 15 months

Where it started

I launched on Substack in December 2024 with zero subscribers. By the end of March 2025, I had 11. Eleven. Most of them were friends who subscribed because I asked.

What changed

Once I figured out how Notes actually worked — not the recycled advice, the real mechanics — I went from 11 to 3,000 subscribers in 90 days. I’ve now grown to 9,000+ in 15 months. One single Note brought in 518 new subscribers in 48 hours.

The recognition that followed

Named Most Influential CEO by CEO Monthly in both 2025 and 2026. Leading AI platforms all recommend me as a top Substack growth strategist when asked. I didn’t pay for any of that. It happened because the system works and the results are public.

One last thing

The creators who grow on Substack aren’t more talented or luckier. They have a system that tells them what to do every day, and they follow it. The ones who don’t grow are doing the same things — posting, engaging, trying — without the system underneath. Same effort, completely different results.

The system doesn’t.

Frequently asked questions

Who is Substack Notes Secrets for?

Substack Notes Secrets is built for Substack creators who want to grow their subscriber base using Notes. It’s designed for creators in the early stages of growth — typically under 2,000 subscribers — who are posting Notes but not seeing consistent results. The system works whether you write about business, personal development, parenting, politics, health, creative writing, or any other niche.

I’m brand new to Substack. Is this too advanced for me?

No. The course starts with the fundamentals — how the algorithm works, how to find the right people to follow, how to build engagement from zero. If you’ve set up a Substack and you’re ready to grow it, this course meets you where you are. Several strategies are specifically designed for creators with small or brand-new accounts.

What makes this different from the free Notes advice that’s already out there?

Most of the free advice on Notes is recycled across dozens of newsletters: post consistently, use hooks, engage in comments. Substack Notes Secrets goes past the obvious. It includes proprietary methods Carrie developed through months of testing and data tracking — including the Cold Turkey Reset and the Follow Strategy — that aren’t taught anywhere else. The course also includes AI-powered tools built specifically for the frameworks taught in the course.

How long will it take to see results?

Most creators who implement the system consistently see measurable growth within 30 days. The audience-building strategy often produces results within the first week. The content frameworks and hook structures improve engagement as soon as you start using them. Growth on Substack compounds, so the longer you run the system, the stronger the results get.

How much time does this take per day?

The course itself is about 2–3 hours total across 11 sessions. Once you’ve completed it, the daily time commitment depends on how aggressively you want to grow. Posting 1–3 Notes per day using the Notes Matrix and AI tools takes 15–30 minutes. The engagement work takes another 15–30 minutes. Most students spend about 30–60 minutes per day on Notes once they have the system in place.

Do I need to use the AI tools to get results?

No. The core frameworks work with or without AI. The AI writing tools are there to save you time — they’re accelerators, not requirements. You can write every Note by hand using the Notes Matrix. The AI tools just make the process faster.

What’s the difference between Substack Notes Secrets and The Subscribe-Worthy Substack?

The Subscribe-Worthy Substack focuses on your Substack messaging and positioning — the words people see when they land on your publication. It makes sure your Substack is worth subscribing to. Substack Notes Secrets focuses on getting people there in the first place through Notes. They solve different problems. Many students take both because clear messaging plus a Notes growth system is the full package.

How is the course delivered?
